Terms and Conditions of Sale: subscription to The Beauty Catalyzer magazine. This is the English version of the French terms. If the two differ, the French version prevails (Article 15.2).
In these terms, the following words have the meaning set out below.
• Publisher: the company identified in Article 2, which publishes the Magazine and operates the Website.
• Magazine: the digital magazine "The Beauty Catalyzer", devoted to scientific communication for the cosmetics industry.
• Issue: one edition of the Magazine, published in digital format (PDF).
• Website: the website www.lecatalyst.fr, on which orders are placed.
• Reading Platform: the online space where Issues are read, available at https://the-beauty-catalyzer.ghost.io/
• Customer: any person who places an order on the Website.
• Consumer: any natural person who acts for purposes outside their commercial, industrial, craft, liberal or agricultural activity.
• Professional: any natural or legal person who acts within the scope of their professional activity.
• Annual Subscription: the offer that gives access to all Issues for twelve months.
• Single Issue: the offer that gives access to one Issue only, for twelve months.
• Access: the right to read the Issues on the Reading Platform.
2.1. These general terms and conditions of sale (the "Terms") govern the online sale of Annual Subscriptions and Single Issues by Le Catalyst, SARL, with a share capital of €33 714,82€, registered with the Trade and Companies Register of Paris under number 982 137 705, whose registered office is at 8 rue des Pirogues de Bercy, 75012 Paris intra-Community VAT number FR06982137705. Publication director: Marie Braun. Contact: contact@lecatalyst.fr.
2.2. They apply to every order placed on the Website. The Customer acknowledges having read and accepted them before paying. No other terms prevail, unless the Publisher agrees in writing.
2.3. The Customer declares that they have the legal capacity to contract. A Professional Customer declares that they act for the purposes of their business.
3.1. The Publisher offers the following.
- Annual subscription, standard rate. Content : all issues published on the reading platform during the access period, including those published before the order. Duration of access : 12 months from the order. The price is 299 euros excluding VAT.
- Single issue. Content : the issue named on the sales page. Duration of access : 12 months from the order. The price is 75 euros excluding VAT.
3.2. The Magazine is published every quarter. The Publisher plans to publish four Issues per twelve-month period. This schedule is indicative: a publication delay of less than 6 weeks is not a breach.
3.3. The essential features of each offer are shown on the sales page before the order. The Magazine is supplied in digital format only: no printed copy is delivered.
3.4. A Customer who already holds a current Annual Subscription does not need to buy a Single Issue, since it is included in their subscription. Any such purchase is refunded (Article 8).
4.1. The Customer chooses an offer on the Website, checks their order, then pays the price on Stripe's secure payment page.
4.2. The contract is formed when the payment is confirmed. The Publisher then sends the Customer a confirmation email to the address entered when ordering. This email states the offer purchased and the duration of Access: it is the order confirmation on a durable medium.
4.3. The email address entered identifies the Customer and opens their Access: it must be correct and accessible to them. The Publisher is not responsible for Access that is not received because of an incorrect address. In that case, the Customer contacts the Publisher to correct it.
4.4. The Publisher may refuse or cancel an order in the event of a declined payment, proven fraud or an ongoing dispute with the Customer.
5.1. Prices are shown in euros. The applicable price is the one in force on the day of the order. VAT is applied according to the rules in force.
5.2. The price is payable in one instalment, when the order is placed. There are no monthly payments and no later debits.
5.3. Payment is made by bank card only, through the secure payment solution Stripe. The Publisher does not have access to the Customer's full card details.
5.4. The Customer receives a payment receipt sent by Stripe. An invoice is available on request at contact@lecatalyst.fr.
5.5. The Publisher may change its prices at any time. A change does not apply to orders that have already been paid.
5.6. A declined or incomplete payment does not open any Access.
6.1. Opening of Access. Access is opened automatically after the payment is confirmed, usually within a few minutes. The Customer receives a welcome email at the address used for their order.
6.2. Signing in. To read the Magazine, the Customer goes to the Reading Platform, enters the email address used for their order, then confirms their sign-in with the link or one-time code sent by email. There is no password. This confirmation is a security measure that cannot be switched off. If the Customer does not receive this email, they check their spam folder, then contact the Publisher, who helps them sign in.
6.3. Duration. Access is granted for twelve (12) months from the order.
6.4. Content available. The Annual Subscription gives access to all Issues published on the Reading Platform during the Access period, including those published before the order. The Single Issue gives access to that Issue only.
6.5. End of Access. Access ends automatically on expiry. It is withdrawn by a daily process and may therefore end up to twenty-four hours after the end date.
6.6. No automatic renewal. The offer is neither tacitly renewed nor charged again. When it expires, the Customer may place a new order.
6.7. Early renewal. A new order placed before Access ends opens a new Access of twelve months from that new order. The months remaining on the previous Access are not carried over.
6.8. The Publisher may change the Reading Platform and how it works technically, without reducing the content to which the Customer is entitled.
7.1. Consumers. A Consumer Customer has fourteen (14) days to withdraw without giving a reason, from the formation of the contract (Article L221-18 of the French Consumer Code).
7.2. How to withdraw. The Customer notifies their decision clearly to the Publisher by email at contact@lecatalyst.fr, using the form in Annex 1 or any other unambiguous statement.
7.3. Immediate access and waiver. In accordance with Article L221-28, 13° of the French Consumer Code, the right of withdrawal cannot be exercised for digital content not supplied on a tangible medium where performance has begun after the Consumer's prior express consent and express waiver of that right. When ordering, the Consumer Customer ticks a box, separate from the acceptance of the Terms, by which they request immediate access to the content and acknowledge that they lose their right of withdrawal as soon as Access begins. This box is compulsory to place an order. The Publisher confirms this agreement by email.
7.4. Effects of withdrawal. Where a withdrawal is valid, the Publisher refunds all sums paid by the same means of payment, no later than fourteen (14) days after the date on which it is informed of the decision. Access is then withdrawn.
7.5. Professionals. A Professional Customer does not have a right of withdrawal, unless they meet the conditions of Article L221-3 of the French Consumer Code: a distance sale, no more than five employees, and a contract that falls outside the scope of their main activity.
8.1. Apart from the statutory right of withdrawal, orders are firm. They are neither taken back nor refunded, except in the cases below or where the law provides otherwise.
8.2. Duplicate purchase. If a Customer who holds a current Annual Subscription buys a Single Issue that is included in that subscription, the Publisher refunds the purchase of the Issue. The Annual Subscription is not changed.
8.3. Technical incident. If the Customer cannot access the content they bought within a reasonable time after reporting the problem to the Publisher, and the Publisher does not resolve it, the Customer obtains a full refund of their order.
8.4. Terms of refund. The refund is made by the means of payment used for the order, within fourteen (14) days of the request being accepted. The time it takes to reach the Customer's account depends on their bank.
8.5. Except in the case of Article 8.2, a refund immediately ends the corresponding Access.
9.1. The content of the Magazine is protected by copyright and by the other intellectual property rights of the Publisher and its authors. An order does not transfer any right to the Customer, other than the one described below.
9.2. The Publisher grants the Customer, for the duration of Access, a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to read the Issues on the Reading Platform. For a Professional Customer: use is limited to the person identified by the email address of the order, unless the Publisher agrees otherwise in writing.
9.3. Without the Publisher's written permission, it is forbidden to share one's login details, sign-in links or codes, to pass on or publish a file or its address, or to copy, resell or distribute all or part of the Issues. Short quotations that name the source remain possible within the limits set by law.
9.4. In the event of a breach, the Publisher may suspend or withdraw Access without refund, after a formal notice that has gone unanswered, except in the case of a serious breach. It may also claim compensation for the harm suffered.
10.1. The Publisher endeavours to keep the Reading Platform available at all times. It may be interrupted for maintenance or in the event of an incident. It relies on third-party providers (hosting, payment, email) whose interruptions are beyond the Publisher's control.
10.2. The Customer has the equipment and internet connection needed to read the Magazine. They remain at the Customer's expense.
10.3. The content of the Magazine is provided for information. It is not legal, regulatory or scientific advice tailored to the Customer's particular situation, and does not relieve the Customer of checking that it suits their case.
10.4. The Publisher is liable for direct damage caused by a breach of its obligations. Towards Professionals, its liability is limited to the price paid for the order concerned, and it is not liable for indirect damage (loss of revenue, business or reputation). Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits the Publisher's liability towards Consumers beyond what the law allows.
10.5. The Publisher is not liable for a failure caused by an event of force majeure within the meaning of the French Civil Code.
11.1. The Consumer Customer benefits from the legal guarantee of conformity applicable to digital content (Articles L224-25-1) and from the guarantee against hidden defects (Articles 1641 et seq. of the French Civil Code).
11.2. They may rely on these guarantees by contacting the Publisher at contact@lecatalyst.fr.
12.1. The Publisher is the controller of the personal data collected for the sale and for Access: name, email address, order history and sign-in history. Bank card data is processed by Stripe and is not kept by the Publisher.
12.2. This data is used to perform the contract (payment, opening and withdrawal of Access, support), to meet legal obligations (accounting) and to keep the service secure and prevent fraud.
12.3. The Customer may receive the Magazine's newsletter. Every message includes an unsubscribe link.
12.4. Data is shared with the Publisher's authorised staff and its providers: Stripe for payment, Ghost for the Reading Platform, Make for automation, Microsoft for email. Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union.
12.5. Data is kept for the duration of Access, then for 12 months to handle claims. Accounting records are kept for ten years.
12.6. The Customer may exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability by writing to contact@lecatalyst.fr. They may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (www.cnil.fr).
12.7. Details are set out in the privacy policy.
13.1. Customer service answers at contact@lecatalyst.fr, usually within 2 working days.
13.2. Any complaint is first sent to this service so that it can be settled amicably.
13.3. A Consumer Customer may, after a written complaint that has not received a satisfactory answer, use the consumer mediator.
14.1. The Publisher may change these Terms. The version that applies to an order is the one the Customer accepted when placing that order.
14.2. The version in force is available at any time on the Website. The Customer may keep or print it.
15.1. These Terms are governed by French law. A Consumer who lives in another country keeps the benefit of the mandatory consumer-protection rules of their country of residence.
15.2. They are written in French. An English version is provided for information: if the two differ, the French version prevails.
15.3. The parties first seek an amicable solution. Failing that, a Consumer may bring the matter before the courts that have jurisdiction under the legal rules. For a Professional Customer, the commercial court of Paris has sole jurisdiction, even where there are several defendants or a third-party claim.
15.4. If a provision of these Terms is declared void, the other provisions remain applicable.
15.5. Last updated: October 2026.
